DTSOI and HBHS students participate in National Signing Day
Eight Har-Ber High School and two Don Tyson School of Innovation student-athletes signed National Letters of Intent to compete at the collegiate level Nov. 8 at a National Signing Day event at Har-Ber High School.
Conner Boatright
Conner Boatright committed to swim for the University of Missouri in Columbia.
“I feel grateful and honored to be able to continue my athletic career in college,” Boatright said.
The senior attends Don Tyson School of Innovation and competes as a mid-distance and distance freestyle swimmer for Har-Ber.
The senior was a three-time state champion for the 500 freestyle, holds the state record for the 500 freestyle and was a state champion for the 200 freestyle.
Boatright, 17, has competed as a swimmer for 10 years and plans to study business finance in college.
Evan Curry
Evan Curry committed to play baseball for the University of the Ozarks in Clarksville.
“I am very excited to sign to play college baseball,” Curry said. “It is something I have always wanted.”
The senior counts playing multiple sports at Har-Ber as a highlight in his high school sports career.
Curry pitches and plays infield for Har-Ber and has played baseball for 12 years.
“I’m grateful for all the coaches that have gotten me to this point,” Curry said.
The 17-year-old is undecided on his college major.
Aiden Elliott
Aiden Elliott of Har-Ber High School signed a National Letter of Intent to play baseball for Ottawa University in Kansas.
“I feel very excited,” Elliott said. “I have made my decision to play at the next level because of my love for the sport.”
The 17-year-old senior has played baseball for 11 years and plans to major in biology.
Ross Felder
Ross Felder of Har-Ber High School committed to compete as a baseball player for the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville.
“I am beyond excited to sign with my dream college,” Felder said.
Felder, 17, is a right-handed pitcher and a middle infielder for the Wildcats. He’ll compete as a right-handed pitcher for the Razorbacks.
The senior counts becoming a state champion, a state tournament most valuable player and an All Conference and All State champion his freshman-junior year among his high school athletic achievements.
Felder has played baseball for 12 years and plans to study sports management as a UofA student.
Archer Jones
Har-Ber High School senior Archer Jones committed to wrestle for McKendree University in Lebanon, Ill.
“I feel very thankful women’s wrestling has grown to the point where I have the opportunity to wrestle in college on a women’s team to compete against D3-D1 athletes,” Jones said. “I’m very thankful for family, coaches and friends who have supported me since I was young.”
Jones, 17, has wrestled for eight years and competes in the 170-pound weight class.
The student-athlete was the 2021 and 2022 state champion, a Fargo All-American, a five-time All American, a three-time all-state and national team member, the 2021-2023 freestyle state champion, the 2022-2023 Greco state champion, a three-year varsity athlete, the third state 2023 regional Greco champion, a 2023 Arkansas victory with honor award recipient, a 2022 Cairnes/Stormo distinguished wrestler, a 2022 conference champion and a 2023 Super 32 all American with over 100 wins.
Jones plans to major in sports management in college.
John “Logan” Mayo
John “Logan” Mayo signed a National letter of Intent to play golf for the University Missouri—St. Louis.
“I am incredibly grateful and excited to have the opportunity to play college golf,” Mayo said. “It's a dream come true for me, and I feel a mix of emotions right now--a combination of excitement, pride and a little bit of nervousness.”
The senior qualified for team Arkansas, qualified twice for team Oklahoma, had an American Junior Golf Association class rank of 143, was second in the Notah Begay III Regional in Mississippi, was one bag for Har-Ber his sophomore-senior years, won several high school tournaments, earned numerous top-five finishes in Oklahoma junior golf tour tournaments, won two Arkansas state golf association tournaments, won the UHY St. Louis tournament, finished fifth at the AJGA St. Louis tournament, was lowest round in a tournament 65 (-7) and had the lowest two-day total of 68 66 (134).
Mayo, 17, has played golf for six years and plans to study finance in college.
Gavin Thomas Moore
Student-athlete Gavin Thomas Moore signed a National Letter of Intent to compete for Crowder Community College in Neosho, Mo.
“It’s been a dream to play in college since I was a little kid,” Moore said.
The 17-year-old is a right-handed pitcher for the Wildcats and will play the same position for the Roughriders.
The senior has played baseball for 12 years and had a 0.49 ERA his junior year.
Moore is currently undecided on his college major.
Delaney Roller
Senior Delaney Roller committed to play basketball for Missouri Southern State University in Joplin, Mo.
“I am so excited to be able to play basketball in college,” Roller said. “It gives me the feeling of hard work being paid off, and at the same time, it is the start of the next chapter in my life.”
Roller has played basketball for 13 years and is a shooting guard for the Wildcats. She’ll play the same position for the Lions.
The student-athlete was a two-time All Conference competitor and was varsity captain twice.
Roller, 18, plans to major in business in college.
Caleb Smith
Wildcat Caleb Smith signed a National Letter of Intent to play baseball with Three Rivers College in Poplar Bluff, Mo.
“It is an amazing feeling,” Smith said of learning he was going to compete as a collegiate athlete.
Smith, 17, is a right-handed pitcher and first baseman for Har-Ber High School and will play the same positions for the Raiders.
The student-athlete counts being a state champion as a highlight of his high school sports career.
Smith, a senior, has played baseball for 12 years and plans to study fire science in college.
Charlie Whorton
Charlie Whorton committed to play golf for the University of Central Arkansas in Conway.
“I feel absolutely ecstatic,” Whorton said. “I’m excited to elevate my game with Coach Summar and Mary Michael. All the girls are awesome. I can’t wait to get there."
The senior attends Don Tyson School of Innovation but competes with the Har-Ber Wildcats.
Whorton, 17, has golfed for 14 years.
She was second in Drive Chip and Putt at age 9, was in the Top 5 in U.S. Kids World tournament from 8-10, was a Notah Begay Championship qualifier in 2022 and a 6A Arkansas Girls High School State Champion.
Whorton plans to major in psychology.
